Sand-less Hand-Scraped Floor Restoration — Forest Hall
Wear was concentrated on the raised contours of this hand-scraped engineered floor. Full sanding risked removing the intentional texture, so a tinted screen and recoat was the more appropriate treatment.

Project summary
Project Summary
Floor
Hand-scraped engineered wood
Problem
Wear on raised/apex areas
Treatment
Tinted Screen & Recoat
The constraint
Conventional sanding would change the floor itself
The textured surface was part of the design. Flattening it through full sanding would have removed the high and low contours that gave the floor its hand-scraped appearance.
The treatment
A technical choice, not merely a cheaper alternative
After deep cleaning, the existing finish was mechanically abraded without taking the timber back to bare wood. A Dark Oak colour tint reduced the visual contrast of worn apex areas, followed by Bona Mega Silk Matt to renew protection.
Restoration process
How The Floor Was Restored
Assess Texture
The raised and recessed surface was inspected before treatment.
Deep Clean
Contamination was removed from the textured profile.
Mechanical Abrasion
The existing finish was prepared while preserving the hand-scraped shape.
Tint & Recoat
Dark Oak colour correction and Bona Mega Silk Matt completed the treatment.
The result
Colour and protection renewed without flattening the floor
The raised wear became less visually dominant, the darker tone was rebalanced and the original texture remained intact.
