Why Sand-less?
Full sanding was unnecessary
The existing floor was fundamentally sound. Deep cleaning and controlled mechanical abrasion prepared the existing finish for recoating without taking the engineered timber back to bare wood.
Wear-layer value
Preserving real wood where the condition allows
Engineered floors have a finite real-wood surface. When damage is mainly within a compatible finish, a screen and recoat can renew protection without unnecessarily reducing that wear layer.
Restoration process
How The Floor Was Restored
Assess
The floor and existing finish were checked for suitability.
Deep Clean
Soiling and small paint flecks around the edges were removed.
Mechanically Abrade
The existing finish was screened to create a suitable key.
Recoat
A fresh Bona Mega Silk Matt coating renewed the protective surface.
The result
A refreshed floor with less intervention
The textured surface retained its character while clarity and protection were renewed. The project shows why Sand-less Restoration is a distinct technical option, not simply incomplete sanding.
