The floor
Timber with a genuine local history
Years of use had left a worn finish, heel dents and furniture scratches. The goal was to reduce unwanted damage while keeping the colour variation and character that made this reclaimed floor distinctive.
The principle
Restoration without erasing the story
Reclaimed floors rarely need to look factory-new. Progressive sanding improved the surface while respecting the age, previous use and natural variation of the cedar.
Restoration process
How The Floor Was Restored
Assessment
Wear, dents and board condition were checked before sanding.
Sanding
The worn finish and surface marks were reduced in controlled stages.
Preparation
The cedar was refined and prepared without forcing artificial uniformity.
Finishing
Two coats of Bona Traffic HD Silk Matt renewed protection.
The result
Historic character with renewed protection
The floor now reads as cared-for reclaimed timber: cleaner and better protected, but still full of the variation that tells its story.
